Uber Jumpin Decks

if you walk in my room my decks skip all over the place.
Is there anything one can adjust on the turntable to stop this? Is it the feet of the Turntable, should they be up, down?
I have a first gig soon, what should i put the decks on?

You should check the legs and see if anything is loose, and check your tonearm weight, cos that can make a difference but not much, make sure that whatever your decks are on is strong and sturdy, hopefully you might be able to solve the problem, but if not then get these Clicky Clicky, they work wonders and will come in handy if playing out and the table you have your decks on are crap.

Hey Zain,

Here's something you might consider trying. Cheap but effective. Get four tennis balls and cut them in half. Place each half so that the cut edge is facing downwards, then place the decks on top and you should have some ok shock absorbers.

If that doesn't work get some foam and stick it under the decks, not too thick though as you will loose stability.
Whatever you do, do not get those blow up deck things... they are shiiite. They deflate all the time, wobble around and just generally get on your nerves...

Just my two Euros worth, best of luck

Nem

Get High density foam. I have some under my decks and it works great. Before I had my decks on a VERY sturdy wood platform and when the music was loud the bass would cause the decks to shake and give feedback. I put them on the foam and never had the problem agian.

Yup, that orange pillow thing.

A friend of mine runs a DJ/Record store and he stocked them for a while but he says they are so bad that he actually recomends people not to buy them from him. And the ones that he hasn't sold he is sending back to the supplier as no one wants them.

Grats on the decks by the way.

Cheers

Well from what people have said, DON'T get those crappy balloon things I said about, I've never used them but I thought that they would work, but if they keep deflating then don't bother.

It seems like all the dj (celeb/stars) are using those free float things, but i am going to try other things before i waste more money.
Wierd enough, i have my decks sitting in flight cases...shouldnt the foam in the flight case be enough...
(me goes downstairs to cut up tennis balls)

I think the major complaint that my friend had with them was that they keep on loosing air pressure. And after a while it will get on your nerves having to keep on moving the decks back and fourth just to inflate the things.
The other thing that makes me slightly sceptical about them is that the companies own site is the only place I have actually seen the 'stars' use them or even talk about them (But that could also be me not paying attention) .

Just out of interest, what cartridges are you using at the moment?

Another thing to consider is placement of the decks... is there anywhere you can put them where they would be less sensitive to vibration from people entering the room? Like in a corner where you have two walls making the floor more stable (assuming it's not there already)? Just brainstorming at the moment but I should probably stop rambling now he he...

Cheers
