Just keep going man, keep playing the music that you love. There are plenty of people out there that like EDM, and eventually you will find the right people.
Good luck!

promoters run the clubs... and the clubs tell the promoters what to look for... the people tell the clubs what to play...

I'm from san diego. You cant just change it. Not when you keep getting stupid little garage bands like blink 182 and shit coming outta the woodwork. San diego is dominated by that shit. Hardly anyone where knows anything about trance. I wish trance more wide spread in the states but at the same time I dread it happening. EDM is a culture on its own and when its widely accepted it becomes pop culture all over again. I think in the end I'm happy that it's the way it is. I let who I can experience it whether or not they like it in the end. As long as we all keep doing that it'll eventually become a much larger culture.

its not nearly that simple...you can't force your music on people who really don't want to listen...that's obviously horrible policy for the club's finances!

sometimes you have to be flexible at first. Then when you get a name for yourself you can play your own stuff.
but since djin is just a part time hobby, I don't mind the long time between gigs.

you just gotta keep pushing it
you do have to cater to the people and play what they want to a certain extent
once you start to get a following and can show promoters that you can bring in the big crowds, then you can start to slowly show your true style
