Allen & Heath Vs Pioneer

I've got a Pioneer DJM 3000 right now and whilst it has stood me in good stead, I am soooo long overdue for an upgrade.

The 4 band EQ on the A&H is most appealing but I would miss the echo, flange and filter on the Pioneer.....

Need opinions, pros and cons of both please.....in the bedroom and live.

Thanks

If you really want to retain those effects there are so many external options these days as well as built right in on some DVS's.

If you have to pick xone, get the X22 it has the same headphone mix feature as the HAK 360.

sold my xone32 today, still gives good money - second hand market seems to be best on A&H, probably due to timeless design and quality build. just a thing to keep in mind. a pioneer is garbage after a few years.

Sound Quality = A&H
Build Quality = A&H
EQ = A&H
Resale Value = A&H
Toy FX = Pioneer

That's really it in a nutshell regardless of model. Figure out your priority and that's all you need to do, but as MTM said, there's so many option for external FX that there's no need to buy Pioneer.

You could always do what I did and get the holy grail of mixers:

It was discontinued nearly 10 years ago (It cost vestax so much to make that they were making a a loss on them), but I managed to find one in mint condition, then 2 years later, found another one brand new, still sealed in the box

Firstly It was made in a period when Vestax was at the top of their game, and they were going all out to set a name for themselves and therefore no expense was spared in the component choice and it was hand built in Japan. The signal to noise ratio is one of the lowest you'll ever find on a DJ mixer.

Secondly, the connectivity on it is a thing to behold. 4 x 60mm faders, 12 inputs, two discrete master outs, master aux sends, INDIVIDUAL channel outputs and inputs for every channel, pre and post sends, booth output, and consumer or pro output attenuation, fully balanced outputs.

It was the mixer that Radio 1 used for all the legendary Essential mixes in the late 90's to early 00's.

I've been using my original one for 6 years and it's as crisp as the day I bought it and it was already second hand then (but I've still got my new spare just in case )

A few years later, pioneer flooded the market with crap FX mixers and Vestax needed to scale back so moved production to China. Although their latest mixers are again great quality they suffered for a few year, but still quality wise, they are head and shoulders above pioneer.

You may like the effects on your pioneer but that will be surpassed by the love you will get for the filters on an a&h. Guaranteed.
