I guess this is the review thread for Cosmic Gate then.....
I don't understand why you guys are so picky about a decent nightclub. It may be mini-viva, that makes sense, but you won't find any under 19 kids there, so it's all kewl!....to be honest....I've noticed those parties get packed even easier.. and packed parties suck, as I'm sure we all agree.
The place:
Very nice light system, except some more lasers and less DAMN SMOKE would be a plus. The decor is ok, but that doesn't always need to be there (if any1 noticed the tiny lounge room on the south-east end of the upper-floor... it had a trippy starry night effect above some ceiling-hung sheets... I chilled in there whenever I needed a break). The DJ booth is nice and close to the crowd, so you can actually shake the DJs hand for a job well done, which Cosmic Gate deserve.
Very nice bartenders, and the security in the club was a kewl crew of ppl as well.
I think I should mention.. I got in quite quickly around midnight when I got there, since I had a ticketmaster ticket. The dodgy thing was that I e-mailed and was confirmed on guestlist for "line bypass" but apparently that was bullshit, oh well... we all learned for next time.
The Cosmic Gate:
They openned up the cosmic gate for us human beings to have a mental atmosphere for firewires that melt to the ocean, in a timeless manner (wow, I'm so creative with tracknames! heheh). They played an awesome set and it kept me on the floor 90% of the night. I don't remember the tracklist well enough, but I simply died when they dropped RVDB - Timeless and Exploration of Space and Melt to the Ocean, and a Matt Darrey track, which title I forget, but it all rocked.
Final Notes:
I was glad to find the TA crowd in good force last nite... I thought I remembered tatgirl from when Picotto/Vath were at KoolHaus. So I jumped into a few photos.... when are they gonna be up???
It was great actually have met and spoken a few words with newly-met TAs.. You know who you are if you met me, I'm sorry but I never am good with names, so maybe after a few more parties I'll keep track. But shoutouts regardless to you all.
I want to mention, based on your complaints about the night and the set played.... keep in mind.... how many clubs in TO actually play trance like this?....not many... so enjoy it while it's here... Judging by how quickly the place emptied out when CG was done, doesn't look like ppl will come back for normal weekly nights, unless of course you just want a night of trance/techno, which IMHO, it just GREAT! I'm sure things will improve in Pulse as the months go on. As long as there's a supporting crowd, we have a place to hear trance/techno weekly in TO, which is somewhat of a rarity.
I'm done blabbling.. on a scale of 1..10.... 8/10. Best party for me since Dumonde @ Viva. And I base that usually on how much the act kept me on the dancefloor with good music.
