cdj-100s tempo step

Anyone find the 0.1% tempo step annoying/fustrating?

I just got one and only got to play with it for a couple hours but it seems i always need to be bewteen the availbale tempos, i.e between 1.5 and 1.6. Yet it seems people have been using these for years and don't find it a problem, is it just me?

Also could people list cd decks that have better steps.
I think the cdj-1000 is 0.02% and the cdj-800 is 0.05%, but what about others. Thanks

The new Denon table tops have .02% and .05% steps. Pioneer's CMX3000 has a .05%. I'll tell you, I started out with a CMX3000, then got a Denon s5000, and now have a cdj1000MK2. I never had to use a pitch step less than .05% until a few weeks ago. It is truly a pain in the ass to have to constantly keep beats on because the pitch step is so wide. Having said that, you'll probably be a better DJ for being able to master the techniques for nudging songs back on.

Yes, it's a true pain in the ass.

But i don't believe it makes you a better dj. The time you took to keep the beats can be precious while "in the mix", and lower pitch steps make the mix much more stable.

I'm still suffering the effects from passing from a cdj100 to a turntable - perfect pitching takes a lot more time.

that 0.1% precision can be annoying, but you can always leave it at say 0.7% and you know that the point is between 0.7% and 0.8% and you compensante sometimes moving the pitch forward and then backward again. It's a good way to get used to mix using only the pitch, at least that's how I started to do it, now I find it confusing to touch the jog wheel (or the platter in the case of TT)
