Last year's Tribal Dance was at the Chief Goodstoney Rodeo center in Morley. A bit of a drive, not rediculously far though and rumors had leaked well in advance so we were pretty much expecting it. The RC's set up a checkstop on the road leading to the venue and searched all the cars, so that delayed proceedings quite considerably. The line ride didn't go all that quickly for the guys, I think it was a little after 11 by the time we got through the checkstop and stood in line, didn't get in until after 12. I don't know if you remember but it was freeeeeezing that night too. I entered the venue half frozen and was greeted by the sounds of DJ Rectangle playing some mainstream hiphop and doing some sort of scratching. Some people seemed to be enjoying it but there were a lot standing around saying "wtf is this?". Not exactly the best party experience ever, most people I talked to hated his set. It was unfortunately too cold in the outside area to stay for any length of time, the DJ's out there had to wear gloves. If they have it in the same venue, they need a LOT more heaters outside. Boodang typically has good lights and sound, last year was no exception. The party was fun later when it got going, Morgan had everyone in a frenzy pretty much, it just seemed to take quite a long time to take off. I'd expect this year's Tribal Dance to be quite a bit better, most notably due to the fact that it's DUMONDE!!!! Also if it is in the same venue, last year was its first use, so some of the issues can be fixed the second time around.
I actually wasn't going to go this year until I saw that they had Dumonde, now I have to go.
