Job Hunting

So i finished my TAFE course a few weeks back, and am told about this entry level position for this IT company in the city.

so i apply, had my first interview today, was daunting never realyl had a proper job interview, anyway i wasnt ready for all the business type questions. like omg! some of the questions come out of left field and on a few occasions there was like 30 seconds of silence (me trying to think of an answer) i felt like a dumb shit hahahaha!!

so i leave the interview feeling like an idiot.

they said they would let me know in a few days..

2hrs later i get a phone call asking if i could come in for a second interview tomorrow arvo..... so im happy. yet packing it hahaha

it is after all an entry level position with no expierience needed. all training provided. so maybe im what they are looking for, young straight out of studies.

anyways thats my days story.

If the same place told you to come for a 2nd interview then that pretty much confirms that you got the job .

maybe in dj_psygnosis world, but in my world that means your better than 90% of all the other people who applied, now you have to beat the other 10.

congratulations on the second interview. what would you be doing if you got the job?

You never know what to expect after an interview. Just be mindful of the work they give you. You don't wont to be too keen and end up doing boring repetitive stuff, if that's what they want, that's when u being to dislike your job.

And usually u'll find that it's easier to get jobs doing the same stuff that u've done in a previous job. So if you hated your first job then u might get a bit stuck with your options.

I enjoy my job, but I find that i'm always working the oddest hours, they're never the same from week to week. And I'm always travelling, which is both good and bad.

Mabie I should try a desk job. At least u get to know the other ppl in your company, go out for drinks etc.

Meh, just my randon thaughts.

Oh, and I just got my NYE Tickets. Tiesto here I come!!!!!!

that sounds like the sort of thing a computer program could do automatically.

as in, if you get the job, write it, use it, spend the rest of the time browsing forums. Just dont let them have it

the key to interviews is to be prepared for them. go search the net for behavioural/interview questions and run through some of them before the interview, and come up with some sort of idea as to how you might respond (with specific examples).

though you might not get the exact question during the interview, at least you would have gone through the mental preparation to handle those type of questions.

good luck!

Good Luck on the interview Wax!
Make sure you are on top of things on the technical side too, usually [in more cases] the 2nd interview is where they hit you with the geeky stuff.
3rd interview is where they usually show you around the place and get more detailed with the company.

I've been to too many interviews a close one was when I applied for this Assistant Network Admin job, I went through all 3 interviews. Almost 200 people applied, then it got cut down to about 20 or something, and finally 5 people. I just missed out, blah if only those 4 people didnt show up hah.

Now, when you get this job, get me in too hehehe

I tried to crack into IT in late 2001 - early 2002, but the industry was seriously fux0r back then ... now instead, I'm stuck @ a retail sales job, selling mobile phones and other wireless gadgets and putting up with ignorant customers

Will give another crack @ it early 2004.

/end selfish rant
