Robert Nickson vs Haak

Here are samples of some tunes we started ages ago. Would like some feedback on them
First one is pretty uplifting, second one is a bit deeper.

Robert Nickson vs Haak - Untitled

Robert Nickson vs Haak - Disfunctional

the first link is down/broken

second one is sounding really good, pretty abstract and different yet tasty. i like the percussion and the bassline(s) a lot, good stuff. just check the synth that enters around 01:55, it's sounding a bit too panned to the left.

Only listened to the first untitled track so far, but it sounds killer! I think it definitely has more potential though. Where the 4-on-the-floor beat comes in at 56 seconds, I'd try to delay the pounding beat for as long as possible so I could get a huge buildup, in my experience the best euphoric compositions are those that have the massive buildups that send shivers down your spine. This composition definitely has that feel, I think you just need to work on it a bit either there, or near the end of the sample where the bass drums cut out at around 2:18. Keep it up man!

Listening to the second track...

I think the added instrumentation at around 1:10 comes in a bit too harshly for my tastes, in the sense that the first minute or so brings you into a deep lull, trance-like state, and the way you added the new melody seems to break off from the previously established pattern.

However, the sound-effect type introduction you use for the strings works much better with the previously established mood. I think you should give it a bit more play time, instead of just using it as a mere transitionary tool.

Bassline sounds good, can't tell too much about the percussive elements both because of the quality of the sample and the speakers (not mine). But definitely a good use of the percussive elements to bring the listener into a deeper state of mind.

Counterpoint needs a bit more work, as if the tune doesn't really go anywhere in particular.

this is sick! ---speaking of the second song---
i absolutely love the bassline!
this is such a chill song with potential to go anywhere! theres a great feeling in this song. not every song should have a huge breakdown as someone else stated above. i like everything about this. great work on this. keep it up.

Cant really say much but that, this has potential, but if the melody changes when the break down comes in (like many producers seem to do) then I think it would loose alot. Keep it mellow and you definitly got something great going here.

Definitely agree with tranc3 about the second tune. The beginning is awesome, then when the melody comes in it loses it's mysterious somewhat dark feeling. You should keep it similar to the intro throughout, give it a sort of Antidote-type sound.

First tune can't really give any criticism on. Sounds like your run of the mill uplifter, but that doesn't bother me at all, I like it.

I think the second tune has a ton of potential, though. All the fx in the intro are great! Gives it a dreamy atmosphere.

Sorry, didn't intend for it to sound like it should have a huge breakdown, I meant it should have a huge buildup...where the music keeps building on itself until it climaxes at a single point. I'm not advocating for all compositions to have this massive feel, it just seems that the more successful ones are the ones that make good use of the buildup because it truly comes together into an emotional high point (if done well, of course).
