iLLicit - Wisecrack

Ok, this is a new song of mine. It's the first song I have posted on here and I'm very curious what you guys think. It's a kind of progressive meets techno meets trance track.
I got my inspiration during an Armin-solo night a few weeks ago. The track is made with Fruity Studio, Pro-53, FM7, Synth 1 and off course a lot of samples:

I have uploaded the new version of my track, hope you all will like the improvements.

Comments as I listen:

The kick could be better, it's not quite loud enough IMO and it could be a lot sharper sounding.

The percussions are pretty sweet, nice and original sounding. I really like them.

The bassline sounds kind of, well, ugly =P Good pattern for it, but I really don't like the sound of it much.

Neat pad at the 1:30ish mark. Work more with that and make it fuller I'd say.

Pretty neat melody in the breakdown, but the synth could sound a little beefier.

The "lead" at 3:10ish is a good idea, but could be a lot louder and cooler sounding.

Pretty nice after the break, with the exception of the kick and bassline. Sounds cool though.

Overall I like this track a lot, especially the percussions. It was very original sounding. By using a better kick sample and working on the bassline I think the track would be about 50x better. I'd suggest ripping off a kick from a pro production and gauging how it sounds thereafter; my bet will be that it's really improved. If you want some kick samples PM me.

Wow, thanx for the positive reply's.

Now some explanations. I've actually sampled the kick from an old lemon8 track and I guess the reason that the kick isn't that hard sounding, is because it gets in the way of the bassline.
Now I'm thinking of changing the bassline, because most people don't really like it and that will make the kick a lot louder I think.

As for the lead and pad sounds, I will take a look at them to make them sound a bit harder.

Thanx for the reply's guys, I'm going back to the studio to change some things!

I like this track

I like this track.
This is one of those tracks were you can see the guy who made it wasn't too worried about having a category for it.
It seems like an honest piece of music and comes across as being well made with the exception that it gets a little messy after the break.
I think I agree with dj-sean in that it needs a more powerfull perhaps crisper kick as there is a lot of bassline going on.

Nice job though

Cheers
Nem

Wow, thanx man, that's exactly what I meant with this track! I tried to combine different styles, like progressive, techno and trance to make an unique track. And according to your reply, I have succeeded!

I will definitely try to change the bassdrum and see what the effect will be. I will keep you guys posted on this one.

Holy shit dude, this is amazing...listening to it non stop! I go to bed in a minute...i bet i wont sleep in very fast

Only comment are the kick and the stringy sound. The kick "solution" is just what they mention above.

The string sound (which you can hear clearly from 1:56 till 2:25) needs a little more attack imo, and a bit more release just to make it more spacy. Play with these 2 things in the amp envelope and the tones will melt together if you would do that.(d0h?) But if you did this all by purpose you should leave it like this. You also should do this with the choir sound that comes in @ 2:40.

just my opinion.

but as i stated early in this post....WICKED track! just original! We dont hear this all day keep it up!

need better kick.. louder and sharper

bass is almost nice.. but kinda don't like it anyway.
not with the rest of the track...

percussions is really nice

hmmmmmmmm... and now it's gone... will finish listen to the track when the link work's again

EDIT: it work's again

the lead should be higher and phatter.. sounds rather thin now

other then that it's a nice track.. but fix the kick, bass and lead and it will get alot better

wicked track! i like it a lot, especially the percussion..lovely
i like the bassline as well, dont see a reason to change that. the lead could be phatter and kick could be louder as said by others. but other then that, great track!
