I say go for it, it's worth every penny. Becuase now I'm not worrying about the life of my vinyl's. Plus it's fun to use new tech. just like PVD, Josh Wink, to name a few.

yes go for it. i bought it and i really coudln't put a price on it.. it adds life to my valued vinyl so i don't have to ruin them and is so much better then dragging around the crates or be restricted to certain tracks that i brought for that night.

I wouldn't go for final crap

went to a party
It crashed when claude young was using it
It crashed when James Ruskin was using it, laughed my ass of when I saw him running to his vinyl bag and used vinyl for the rest of the time. Computers = crap on a party, use it at home.. They get overheated, they crash, humidity gets inside
1200's for life
pioneer has some cool stuff though emulating vinyl

I have seen Josh Wink play with vinyl and final scratch.
While new technology is always fun, anyone that thinks that finyl scratch is just like vinyl needs to think again. It is not as responsive.
It also made Josh Wink go from excellent DJ to fairly ordinary in terms of technique and must admit that I did not come away from that night feeling as good about him as I used to.

By all means get FS if you feel you want to but I think it's a waste of money and the above problems mentioned by DeZma also add an interesting twist.

Perhaps I look at it from a purist vinyl junky view but I just can't see why someone would want to make something like that... was there any need?
I can appreciate that it still uses vinyl though, which is perhaps a nice touch but if you are going to use vinyl to control it why not just play the vinyl anyway?

Ok so some big names use it. But a lot more don't.

Just out of interest does anyone know if PvD plays his whole set on it? I mean that as a genuine question.

I guess whatI would say to the original poster, try it first and see if it's for you. Would also be interested in hearing your verdict on it.

Cheers
Nem

I dont see the point of emulatng something that works perfectly fine as it is...

the only real advantage- as with a lot of digital stuff- is the portability.... (for the 10 mins it takes me to load my car i hate vinyl- then again for the 10 mins to unload it.....rest of the time i wouldnt change it for the world..)

Im off to work in 40 mins- i will probably play 5 cds from 9:30- 2am- not much more than that- i have 4 (big) boxes of hip hop/R&b in the car and one small cd wallet- but then i am a vinyl purist and have been doing this longer than some....

People new to djing may have started out with digital and it may be all they know.

Horses for courses- try it then decide if you like it- its not really a yes or no question, or decided on coolness factor.

You will get half the peeps on here saying no and the other half saying yes- and thats from a whole load of perspectives
