Make sure not to drive too fast this week...
AGGRESSIVE DRIVERS BEWARE! – Operation Target Street is coming to a street near you. Commencing on Monday, January 12th, 2004 and running through until Sunday, January 18th, 2004, the Toronto Police Service will be “targeting” drivers who speed, disobey traffic signals, make prohibited turns and cause gridlock at intersections. In addition, pedestrian and parking infractions will also be strictly enforced during this one week campaign.
This year’s edition of Operation Target Street has allowed each Division in the city to select it’s own target street based on areas that experience a high number of collisions, excessive speeds and overall disregard for the rules of the road. “It is important that we set the right tone early on in this New Year that aggressive driving will not be tolerated on our streets” says Superintendent Steve Grant of Traffic Services.
The selected streets are as follows:
11 Div – Bloor St.
12 Div – Eglinton Ave.
13 Div - Eglinton/Bathurst
