I travel a lot.. went to Global Gathering in Miami last Thanksgiving.. but Montana has a lot of redneck hicks. Missoula Montana though is like Boulder Colorado, college town with a lot of drugs and former hippies. Ear Candy records in Missoula is actually better than any of the records stores I've been in in Denver, Chicago, Seattle, Washington DC, or South Florida... the problem is that there is nowhere in MT to play out (although there are some DJs that play bars here on occasion but they primarily jukebox and aren't DJs) so those in western MT (this state is f-ing huge btw) end up playing events in Spokane Washington or the few in Northern Idaho. North Dakota and Wyoming have pretty decent scenes.. Eastern North Dakota draws a lot of DJs from Minneapolis and both of ND's large schools are right on the Minnesota boarder, and Wyoming shares scenes with the Boulder/Denver area and Rapid City South Dakota... Montana just sucks, blows, swallows, spits... all at once


Good things about MT: Ian Lymman and Andy McCann who wrote Sonique were from here.. (both went to my high school and my college) Ian is back and works at the college radio station where I used to DJ and plays electronic music most of the time

Stephen "Tag" Loomis who wrote Shoutcast and the former Tag's Trance Trip stream used to live in Montana and my best friend goes to his annual party in San Francisco every year

I spun a little out by my home in Glacier in the summers...only because there are lots of tourists from around the world so there is "some" interest then. Also, as spoken above, interest is a "smidge" better at the University of N.Dak that I attended for those reasons mentioned, talent/students from Minneapolis, as well as a 2 hour drive to Winnipeg. Music was available up there and I could spin it in the states.

Now commuting between Montana and Portland, even though I find myself with a bigger city at my fingers...the scene is awful and we average 1-1.5 decent trance shows per year...still gotta travel for good regular stuff.
