Reverb, and leads

Okay this is how I tend to make a lead, Tune up a few presets to the way I want it, and add a few layers sounding a little different, then eq them differently blabalab

Obviously the thing with trance leads is they need reverb, anyway for the reverb(logic)I put the setting up to about room setting, and set the pre-delay so the reverb clusters go in time with my mix..but it still aint BIG enough so i increase the 'Mix' function, not too much otherwise YOU CANT HEAR SHIT!
And anyway, I get this REALLY HORRIBLE TAIL, so like, does anyone tend to use snoise gates or enevelope's for this?

Now when you say delay, do you mean simple delay, that repeats afterwards in a sort of typical 4/4 time signature, or do you set the stereo dealy quite close so it kinda PHASES,yeah

Ive noticed alot of trance sounds really far away, not like a shitty reverb plugin

Im thinking, The pros must take a certain lead with loads of reverb and then make a copy of it but alot dryer, Infact Ill try that

Maybe it's time to change the REVERB plugin? Or experiment Dry and Feedback buttons! Don't know 100%

My lead - medium delay 1/4 ja 1/8T panned with lot of "Feedback" and easy "DRY" , and little reverb. Because I love hard-reverb my strings and pads sounds! I can't overreverb all intruments

using delay can give pretty much reverb.
i usually use 2 delays.. one panned to the right and the other panned to the left using different time settings on them

so i use that and then depending on the synth i use a bit of reverb or sometimes hardly any at all

and since i have atleast 2 synths i tend to have a kinda darker one in the background with more reverb and a lighter one in the front with less reverb to keep it more clear

Ubless I'm using a soft-synth, then I don't even bother with reverb. A nice stereo delay does wonders. I tend to run it on 3/4 time also, which I think is quite standard.

Yeah, usually l/r = 3/4 delays work well with leads. Same thing with reverb... I tend to use it but pretty subtle. Ie 1/3-1/4 of totally wet signal.

FX don't make your leads, melodies does. Then fx make them phatter
