Unhappy no sound coming from cubase..

just bought a midi keyboard & new soundcard.. buttt i cant get fucking cubase to output any sound from the keyboard when i input any notes, on the 'output' dropdown menu in cubase ive tried all of the available selections, but none seem to work.. even though in cubase the in & out monitors seem to be both working, as in they both go up when i press a note on the keyboard. the options in cubase on the output menu are:

DMX 6fire MIDI,
DMX 6fire WAVE table,
Microsoft midi mapper (emulated),
microsoft GS wavetable sw synth (emulated),
out USB keystation (emulated)'

are the ASIO options set wrongly on the soundcard or in cubase?

and shouldnt there be an option for DMX 6fire wave?, thats the one that outputs the sound in winamp etc..

midi keyboard: M-AUDIO radium midiman 61
soundcard: terratec DMX6FIRE

ive tried in 2 versions of cubase now and no luck -

Steinberg Cubase SX v1.0.5.61
Steinberg Cubase SX v2.0 WORKING iSO

thanks..

That's what happens when you pirate software isn't it. I'm gonna be nice and help you out, although I reckon that's the price you pay when you decide not to pay for the product.

You need to select your sound card. Go into Device --> Device Setup --> VST Multitrack and select your ASIO driver. This is your sound card. It will be something like DMX 6fire ASIO (I'm taking a guess there but it should be the obvious choice).

Now you have your sound card setup, you need to select an input and an output for the midi track.

Create a midi channel. Set the input of that channel to be tghe Radium Controller. Make sure you have this particular channel selected. Now when you press keys on the radium controller, Cubase should register some midi in (the green bar will go up when you hit a key).
Next, select the output for the midi channel. Go to Devices --> VST Instruments --> click on "no vst instrument and a drop menu will come up, select a synthesizer to want to play the sound with.
Go the the midi out select for the midi channel and select the instrument you have just created (or one of the dodgy MS wavetable synths if you want).

Now when you press a key, it should play.
