I only ever really get into football during playoffs.
My pick from the start has been New England.

I have a feeling Carolina has what it takes to pull it out this year. They remind me of the Patriots of a few years back when they made the Superbowl and werent given a chance. A young QB (Delhomme) is emerging as a bigtime playmaker and they have the best runningback core in Davis and Foster. I know the Patriots finished with the longest winning streak in the league, but keep in mind a lot of those wins they had to have EVERYTHING go right. I also believe the Pats one dimensional offence is becoming predictable, and when Brady is stopped they wont have a back to hand off to when they need it. Plus they dont have the harsh elements of Foxborough to play a factor. Look for the Panthers in a surprising upset.....23-20.
he passed for what? 109 yds against philly? what is he going to be able to do against an awesome New England defence?
as far as carolina's running game goes...its good, but New England's D will stop it...
carolina has arguably the best front 7 in the league, which would help them out alot against an offence thats centered around the running game...new englands offence isnt about that however, its about spreading the field with 4/5 wide receivers, its about getting rid of the ball right after the snap for a short high percentage passing play...
that is something that is very difficuly to defend against, something that i believe carolina wont be well enough equipped to do and i cant see Brady getting sacked nearly as much as McNabb did last week...his style of play just doesnt allow for that happen...
and last but certainly not least bill belichek > john fox
new england will win...

how can u call Delhomme a big-time playmaker
Sorry, i shouldnt have said big-time playmaker. Ill rephrase myself - he's a FEARLESS playmaker. Not afraid to go downfield. He led Carolina to wins when trailing going into the fourth quarter SEVEN times this year. He doesnt always put up the big numbers....but put him in a sticky situation, nine times outta ten hes gonna give you a positive play.

Totally agree with you here. I'd have to say Belichek has to be named coach of the year for what hes done with this team this year. To start the year off losing one of their defensive leaders in Lawyer Milloy, and to play through all of the injuries they've suffered, its hard to believe the Pats have had the kind of season theyve had. Not to mention losing to the Bills in Week 1 31 - 0!?! Unreal.
I'm only saddened that I no longer have my american satellite feed. Good-bye funny/creative commercials, hello P.O.S. Pizza Pizza & Canadian Tire commercials....

Delhomme is a play maker. He isn't throwing up huge numbers in every game but he does what he needs to do to get a W. the panthers have a team of mostly above average players and some exceptional players. No real superstars but they play together and they play for each other. thats why they are there. cant take away from the pats though. they are the same kind of team. hopefully being the underdog will be an advantage. no one is expecting them to win so they will play that much harder for it. I pick Tha Cats in an upset.
