How many VSTi's like Superwave, etc.. can everybody here get with a recent Pentium 4?

Anybody who can give me an indication of how many VSTi's + effects and audio tracks you can get with something like a 2.8Ghz Pentium 4.
I would work in Cubase SX 2. The kind of VSTi's I would like to use are those good for trance, like those from Native Instruments, Linplug Albino, Superwave (how CPU intensive it that one?!), Z3ta+, etc.. then add the necessary effects in Cubase and use only a couple of audio tracks for mainly the vocals and perhaps mixing down some VSTi tracks etc.. Also, is it true that even with a recent CPU, one instance of something like Superwave P8/Peformer will eat up 30% CPU when you play 8 notes (like when you play a 4-note chord that still have some release time going when you already start playing the next 4-note chord, this will eat up 8 notes I believe). On the other hand I have heard some impressive results from Reason users. Does something like Reason perhaps use less CPU then when you use lots of different VSTi's to make a production? Actually I would like to combine various VSTi's with Reason in Cubase SX 2 if that is possible.
I think my main question is if with a recent CPU like a 2.8Ghz Pentium 4, it is possible to make a complete (vocal trance) production like Paul van Dyk, DJ Sammy, etc.. with just VSTi's and some effects and some audio tracks, or will you still need hardware synths for that?!
It would perhaps be best if everybody can post a link to a good, ready-for-release (vocal trance) song he has made with only VSTi's and mention which and how many instances of VSTi's, effects and audio tracks you have used and which PC setup you use?! I think if everybody could do this this would give a good idea if it is nowadays really possible to make full productions with only VSTi's?!
