Audiophile 24/96 Volume
I just installed the m-audio 2496 soundcard and hooked them into my monitors...
but the volume is so darn loud Im afraid i'll ruin my Tannoy's!!
When I go into system volume in control panel the master volume is grayed out! Is there no way to change output volume??
Detailed explanation would help (the manual really sucks! and there's no forum at M-audio!??!)

Control panel, you mean the big "M" that opens up the M-audio delta control panel.
That's weird. I've never experienced that. Have you tried e-mailing M-Audio tech-support?

no...i mean in windows control panel.
When i click the big M it takes me to soundcard setup ... i hear sound and it shows levels thru the wav out 1/2 in monitor/mixer tab.
Going into the patchbay/router also doesnt help.
I know this is probably performing properly, I just don't understand how to change volume.
Volume sliders dont work in BIG M and are greyed out in Windows sound applications.
ANy clues for da n00b?

When you audiophile users playback music through winamp or windows apps, what sound device do you have selected? I'm sure its just a setup issue ...what driver you guys have?

In winamp, I don't remember selecting a sound card. In Cubase, the production programs, the driver is "M Audio Delta ASIO".
Buy any volume changes I would have though would be done in the M-Audio control panel rather than the standard sound card's control panel.
Hang on a sec, hahaha, that's pretty funny. I can't change the volume either. Lucky I've got an external mixer Better get on the emial to M-Audio Tech-Support mate.
Sorry I couldn't help.

okay, I managed to control the sound. I clicked on the little speaker in the tray in the bottom right corner of my screen (don't know what that tray is). It opened up a window called volume control. i could raise and lower the wave volume there. Go to options --> properties --> Mixer device = M Audio Delta AP Multichannel.

click on the hardware settings tab and then in the middle look for the output section - click on the -10dbv button - should fix your problem if you havn't already.

Just for future n00bs...
It seems that the MAIN volume is greyed out on everyone's computer... You can adjust the WAV and other outputs, but not the main.
Weird huh? And also.. in my WINXP system, it shows the device as
M Audio Delta AP Multi... which isnt even mentioned in the manual..come to think of it...there's no XP support at all!! Even my driver disk CD was useless.
I love the soundcard, dont get me wrong...but PFFFT! nice support!
Still no response email from them either...I have an unidentified Audio Controller Device in my "Device Manager" too! Every time I boot up, I get that darned NEW HARDWARE FOUND...but cant find a driver for it...
If someone could tell me what 2 drivers M-audio should be reading, then I at least know what I should bug them for...is it a MIDI driver?

M-Audio tech support is terrible, I agree. I'm running on WinXP and have never had a single problem. Do you have the latest drivers? Go to www.m-audio.com and download them.

Alanzo...thanks, yes I did use those drivers...I was forced to! The disk that came had no XP drivers on it! LOL
Can you tell me what devices show up in your Device Manager after you installed the Audiophile? There are two M-audio drivers I think. NEED CONFIRMATION of them.

In the Device Manager under Sound, Video, and Game Controllers the only thing that seems to be relevent to my sound card is under the heading "M-Audio Delta Audiophile" - I also have Legacy Audio Drivers but I think that has to do with my TV-Tuner.
When I updated the drivers, I used "M-Audio Delta Audiophile" as the device.

hmmm...okay...thats the only one showing up? I thought maybe this unknown device was a MIDI device that required a separate driver...I wonder what the heck this st00pid hardware is that keeps being detected since I installed this sound card??
Thanks Alanzo
