Hello! Looking for help with a VST effect problem...

I just installed Prosoniq's Pi-Warp and when I use it as a send or an insert it produces this high-pitched crescendo of feedback that tops out at 100 db. I don't even have to route an instrument to it, I can just let it sit there and a few seconds after I load it the ringing creeps up and just gets louder and louder until I turn it off. It appears to load alright and the GUI looks normal, but it's not long before I have to duck for cover due to the feedback. Anyone have a clue what might be causing this? This is the only time I've encountered an issue like this so I'm sorta at a loss .
