Remix rules ?

When you guys post a remix of whatever song, what is actually supposed to be used. Just the .. midi file for example ? With all that ferry corsten stuff yesterday I want to actually finish what I started. But is it ok if I sample his kick or not ? I'm just not feeling like putting too much time in the small things that make a huge difference, like the kick. Etc... So I make my own synths of course, sample the kick, and maybe something else, don't really see what else I could sample but the kick.

Cheers

no problems in sampling the kick.. you can sample more if possible.
like a piano melodie, some chorus etc... etc...
like sampling the chorus thingie in SS vs SB - 3rd earth could be a good thing.. it's kinda a part of the track and sounds really nice.

but try to be as original as possible.. try to make something different with it.. new synth's and such.

Sampling kicks is fine, everybody does it. Sampling leads and stuff is a bit average.

Or, to be a mega remixer, you could just sample the whole track and put some reverb on it and eq up the bass, cos everybody knows that dance music is all about reverb and bass.
