Thumbs up Sen. Kerry's speech @ Council on Foreign Relations

I was so impressed by this speech, I thought I would post it here:

http://www.johnkerry.com/issues/foreignpolicy/

President Bush has already stated that he plans to run on the issue of national security as reported by the New York Times (even though he had as much foreign policy experience as Dean going in).

Therefore there are only two challengers who can face him with great credibility on that issue: Kerry & Clark.

I was undecided about who I would support in this race, but after hearing this speech, I now believe Sen. Kerry to be the strongest contender. John Edwards is perhaps the only other viable candidate in this race as of now, but he doesn't have the foreign policy experience that Sen. Kerry has. Gen. Clark also has great foreign policy experience, but lacks political experience. Clark, Edwards, and Gephardt are probably all on Kerry's short list for VP. With a win in Gephardt's home state of Missouri, a state that has voted for the winners of the last 11 presidential elections, and all the other democrat states, George W. Bush will give his concession speech.

I think Sen. Kerry will be able to bring our country back into a favorable view in the eyes of the world by working with our allies, and perhaps one day with Sharon and Arafat out of power, we will have Middle East peace as well. Sen. Kerry I feel has the most explicit and visionary plans for the future of any of the other candidates, and that includes Bush. This speech and this man are not examples of far-left, cut and run liberalism, and Rove will have a harder time painting Kerry in that light after the American people hear Kerry speak for themselves. With Kerry’s strong environmental record, and plan to invest in hydrogen energy, I think he can convert enough Green Party voters into his camp to win in decisive states such as Florida. On the other hand, the one thing I fault him for is his contempt for the NRA. I’m not sure if I support the “assault weapons” ban or not, but then Bush has also stated he would sign it. There’s really not much difference there policy-wise between Bush and Kerry, but Sara Brady is the scourge of many rural swing voters.

Bush has still not visited with a single family of any of the now 518 US troops killed in Iraq, and I don’t believe a man with who has seen his friends die before his eyes in a war his country didn't have to fight would ever treat our Nation’s young people with such utter contempt.

The initials seem to also fit:

John Forbes Kerry
