Arrow WAR on terrorism has gone too far..

Dont you guy's think the war on terror is now just way over hyped? Every damn news headline on CNN has something to do with the war on terror, terror this terror that. They have absolutely nothing to report on except the stupid BS things in Iraq that we all wath over and over every single day.

It's just ridiculous how in depth this terror stuff has gone and how they are making it a wayyyyy bigger deal then it already was!

I guess it depends on what you consider overhyped. There were nearly 3,000 people killed by 4 planes running into 3 incredible historical buildings, 2 of those skyscraper buildings crumbled to dust. There are suicide bombers going into Israel everyday blowing the guts and limbs out of innocent lives everyday, and in return have retaliatory strikes against them doing the same with the innocent. A country we invaded has opposition which eagerly invited other radical groups to suicide bomb the occupiers as well as other innocent civilians. There have been numerous strikes both on the US soil and around the globe due to a handful of terrorist organizations, all pushing their radical message.

No, I don't think things are too overhyped in general. Of course every media outlet has a business to run, and that entails at times a little sensationalism. But for the most part, I hardly feel global terrorism is sensationalized, given the current state of affairs.

I think I side with Opus on this one. Of course one could also argue that the way the media hypes things up so much serves to perpetuate the violence by keeping it in front of everyone's face 24/7.

i dont know if it is rediculous that the media focuses so heavily on terror.

but truly if you think about it - some dude sitting in North Dakota doesnt need to get bombarded[sic] with CNN terror reports all day - most of us dont shape our lives or change our behaviors because of terrorist actions.

or at least i hope we wouldnt |

So true - the chicken before the egg scenario. I also tend to think this has a pretty noticeable effect as well.

I for one think we need to stop buying into this whole war on terror hype and start addressing the real issues going on in the world that affect us. Namely, now that Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson have upped the bar on prime time "shock" provocativeness, what will the Britney/Aguilera response be to one up them, and what shocking effects do you foresee this having upon the known universe? Plus how will the new real world philadelphia affect the meaning of life as we know it?

I agree with opus1 and Shakka on this. I have only one suggestion - for the sake of carrying out this "war" for as long as is necessary to root out the terrorists, the title "war" is not the best. Wars have definitive ends, and in the modern era, they don't last for extended periods of time. I think "campaign" might be a better term.

Half the issues that are going on have been going on for many years it's just that now that the U.S. is invovled it's a BIG AND DANGEROUS ORDEAL...

Many people have died in Israel on a daily basis due to terror, and same goes for other foregin countries, but did anybody give a rats ass until the U.S. decided to exploit all the crap about how U.S. soldiers are dieng and such?

Ya it obviously sucks that young men are dieng to fight for us, but thats not the point. The point is that nobody notices the problems or cares about them until the media makes a deal about how U.S. is being attacked, and how U.S. soldiers are dieng because of terror.

For gods sake the kids in Iraq goto school with busses that have armend guards on them with loaded m16's, why dont they make a fuss about that? I understand it's the media and they obviously arent going to point out things like that just because of what the majority of Americans like to hear..

I dono... it's just way to overhyped IMO, they say it as if there has never been terror in foreign countries, and they make it seem like there are barely any civilian casualites due to American fire. And that the YOUNG men and women that are serving are paying the price for the terror acts.. it's just so stupid and one sided, its sad.
