I don't know any other people that 'produce' like me. I have to say though that people might look strange at me when I talk about my music too. I'm not bragging I hope, I'm just talking about my music like as if it's the best sex ever (for me). I also dislike saying I 'produce' since that's such a sad name for the wonderful sounds we can create. When a girl or anybody asks me what it is I actually do when I'm locking myself up with my music. I'm going all crazy, I'm saying I got this huge idea, and I hope that I could be one of the 20.000 demos that gets selected lol. I have a rather dry view on getting signed, I say if you don't know anybody that could help you get signed out there, your chances drop another 70% or so But my friends, so the people that know what it is I'm trying to do, know that all I really want is to spin my vinyl, and see the crowd freak on it Like most of us here no ?
What I actually DO dislike, and meet alot. Is the following : 'So you make music or what ?' 'Yes I try too' 'So .. you got ejay or something ? I can do that too' @_@ Always makes me laugh, I don't even try to explain anymore

i HATE it when someone goes "DUDE!! i made this PHAT beat, its like up there with ferry and solar stone" and you listen to it ... and alls they did was past a loop in Acid, a loop that youve heard 400,000 times before. when that happens i want to do one of two things: 1 say "good job your well on your way to becomeing famous!" and hope they go home and get bored with 'producing' becasue they are so 'good' at it never doing it again, or 2 if they have protential at all rip them a new asshole, telling them everything that is wrong with there song and just about killing there spirits.
...anyway side note...
trancevision:
i think that yes every music community is like that at one level or another. Trying to hype your own stuff is part of the biz at some point, but the people who are truly great producers dont need to say a thing, they just play there song. if they are good, they are usually humble about it. personaly i can spot the people you described from a mile away, they are all talk, and i just try to stay away from them.
if you want to get into the industry you have to start at the bottem, there is no other way. if you wanna be a producer first you must be a really shitty producer. You cant become a better producer if you first dont think you are shitty, there is no room for improvement if you think you are good already. ever seen americal idole? i have more respect for the last guy that was on last night ("she bangs, she bangs" i think that was him) because unlike anyother singer he knew that he was shitty and he gave it his all anyway. however the people who are HORIBLE and who also have this attitude that "i am gods gift to music" make you wanna go up there and kick them in the face. you know that if they say 'Im going to blow you away" and they dont even come close then they will never improve, and should take simons advice and GET A NEW FUCKING LIFE. i think that the indusrty will always be stuck with them on the surface but they will never really get in. Oh well they are fun to laugh at.

Well you guys are right but also Harsh.
I used to Chop up Ejay To peices making my own melody from loads of little parts, the whole screen would look like it had been in a cheese grater, but it worked. BUT SERIOUSLY, I wish someone had said 'Go download Fruity' Alot earlier, I wasted so much of my life on that ejay program, I used to say 'HEY I COULD MAKE THAT SHIT IN EJAY', it used to piss off my mates. Now when I do make stuff that Ive worked really hard on, using effects Ive learnt and Parameters Ive studyed for ages, when I do show my mates they say 'SO?, you could make that in ejay right?'
I dug myself into a hole.
But seriously Guys, there is so many stages of production and you have to admit, there was times where you thought you knew everything, because it makes you comfy producing. Thinking you have and know all the skills is relaxing. I know alot now, but I still dont know how to work a harware mixer, Im shitting my pants. I cant Dj either....... bollocks.
I can see how its anoying though, I used to call anything with Kick on each beat over 4/4 easy unoriginal crap, now I spend hours on getting it right in the mix.

Well I'm actually a bit like that myself. Well, not the boasting twat kinda guy, but more about the fact that I keep promising myself I'll produce one day.
"Yeye, once my new DAW is finished, I'll start producing, got plenty of good idea's in my head (which I probably have forgotten the day after)". Stuff like that. But it never happens. It always gets reported.
The problem is, I see everything from a technical point of view. I'm also studying for audio engineer (and if my dream could come through, I would gladly become a mastering engineer) what probably doesn't help the problem. For one, I'm busy with audio day in day out, so the last thing I wanna do at home is still fiddle around with synths and stuff like that (the main reason why I havent touched my turntables in months).
But the main problem is that technical view. One of my friends produces pretty good tracks, and when he let's me hear his promo's, I never listen to the music for the first time (guess that's why he comes to me too). I'm always trying to listen what reverb he put on, how he compressed the drums and if that really helped in the mix... One time he even invited me making a tune with him in his studio. I think we "produced" for about an hour, and after that I ended up opening his comp for changing something in his configuration, recabling stuff because there was something annoying happening (buzz or something like that don't remember), explaining him why really use a compressor, stuff like that.
But still, I strongly believe that one day (when civilisation is at an end probably) I will produce. The fact is, I don't know what I would produce. I love trance, but I love sooo much. For all I care I could even make videogame music or an orchestral soundtrack (like that will happen).
But
/boasting mode on
Yes, my next tune will be the best anthem ever made, and I'll rule you all until eternity, muhahahah
/boasting mode off
Or not... Time will tell.
