I guess depending on the native language, people who speak English as a foreign language are bound to say da-ta too, as this is how most spoken languages would pronounce it

I know I do because the Portuguese way to say it is da-ta, so I can't be arsed to change the pronounciation in English

Yes! same with spanish or catalan. I say da-ta for the influence of my native language.

I say da-ta [daaa:ta], because thats how we say it in Russian. I like it that way. Just how I like to say the word "audio" a-u-dio, not o-dio.
