Rasta Skills Electro Techno Disco Love

One of the baddest raves in Northern California just happened last night, Love presented by Skills. All last week at work a lot of my friends, especially my gal pals, were talking nothing but what they were gonna do with their significant others on Valentine's Day. Go hve a romantic dinner, watch a movie, talk a walk in the park, etc etc. But for the single partyin' types like me and a couple of my homies, we just said, "F dat, let's go Rave!" And then one of my friends scored some free VIP wristbands for the Love Rave and everything was set.

First off, I was impressed with the location that Skills had chosen to do the rave at, the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco. The ironic thing is, you got City Hall just across the street. Hmmm, Dope Central next to a government building, I just find that funny. Anyways, Skills show once again that they know how to do a Rave. The flyers said it was gonna start at 6 and it did start at 6. Everything was greatly organized and all the D.J.'s scheduled to spin did get to do and complete all their sets. I may be making a big deal out of something that should have been expected, but I was quite disappointed at the lack of organization in Hallofest last Halloween in SF. Seeing things go smoothly last night was a relief. The lighting and lasers were phenomenal, the ravers and pills were plentiful, water bottles littered the floors, and mesmerizing sets were played.

I stayed mainly in the Hardcore and Trance sections, I wasn't really feeling the Jungle and Drum N' Bass rooms. The first set I watched was from D.J. Denise. She rocked the house. I think she spun the best out of all the hardcore d.j.'s that night. Other sets that amazed me were from D.J. St. John and Mystere in the trance room. Also seeing Mystere actually sing during the Mars live performance was...interesting. Dyloot was the last d.j to spin at the trance room, and I suppose Skills saved the best for last. Dyloot was awesome. I totally felt it that night. But that may have also been due to the fact that I was f'ed up on E during that time. Either way, the rave was awesome and I had a blast. Bravo for Skills. Two thumbs up.

i drove up from L.A. just for that. i have to say...SF raves are so much better than the ones in L.A. Very few gangsters hassling you to buy their shit. and the music was fantastic...i vaguely remember As The Rush Comes being played and i think they even played Save the Rave...too bad SF raves end at 2 a.m.

The location had to do with it ending at 2am....after-hour licenses are possible, but cost an arm and a leg.

Really? I never would have thought that. I would have expected the raves down south to be even better than the ones in Northern Cali. But Love certainly was fantastic. It did kind of sucked that it ended at 2 but I heard that there was an after party. I didn't go to it though, I was already tweakin'.

Actually PERMITTED events that are all ages or 18 & up cannot go past 2am no matter what, unlike 21 & up events. But there is currently a
Leglislation to Allow 18+ Afterhours that hopefully will pass.

Whats sup!
Looking at the lineup there wasn't any Hardcore DJs, Denise plays Hard Trance/NRG but there should have been Hardcore there, wonder why they didn't have any maybe Skills itself hates it. But did you see 4 Strings in the Trance room, how were they? That's who I wanted to see the most if I would have went. But it Sucks you didn't make it to the afterparty I heard it was preety sick too went on till 7am, some people said it was actually better than Love itself hehe. Later dude.

I saw a little bit of 4-String's set last Sat but didn't pay much attention to it. My friends saw his set and I got mixed reviews from them. One of them really liked his set and commented that he was one of the d.j.'s that spun tracks that he hadn't heard before, and another one commented that he didn't like his mixes. And yeah I did want to go to the after party but my friends were more interested in looking for prostitutes in SF and Oakland.
