you don't have to put it on a MD first m8. It is possible / better to record it directly to a CD. The way i do it is I have a cd writer hooked into my "record" input in my mixer (this is not a CD writer on a pc but a separate machine) and simply record as if it were a tape.
The alternative way to do this is to hook your mixer directly into your computer's sound card and to record onto your computer as a sound file which can then be burnt onto a cd writer. Search the forums for more in-depth how-tos on this. Best of luck m8

Thats how I do it, Record with Soundforge, and then burn to cd... Simple.
