We had a dog once that we got when it was still a puppy, and pursuant to our inability to come up with a suitable name for the creature, we decided to call her "puppy" - at least temporarily. Now that's her name

I've always wanted to call a dog something like cat, that way you can say "c'mere cat" and people will go "wow you trained your cat to respond to your commands?" And then your dog comes and you say something like "Good cat. You're such a good dog, aren't you cat?"

I make up wierd native american sounding names.


"come here oohh-a-heech-mmm-uuu-tah."

or name them after shakespeare characters.

"Dammit Horatio, that's the third time you've pissed on the carpet this week!"

my science teacher in 7th grade had a bunny named jaws and a piranha named fluffy. of course he had the cage and aquarium right next to eachother...

I named my dog Mr. Bojangles. I think she likes it.

my pets must get mixed up cause everyone has their own name for a pet and the names usually evolves. For example, we had a cat and named him Bumble which evolved into Mr. B, after he started marking his territory in the house finally became Van Pee Pee. My current cat has a laundaury list of names that i pick from depending on my or my cats mood here's just a few i can think of:

Buttons: given by previous owner (got the cat at an animal shelter)
Billy: offical name (my roomate had crush on a news caster with same name)
Mommy cat, Big Moma: the cats fat and has a pouch that hangs down so we though she was pregnant.
Cardinal Furry: she must be the first female cardinal i dont know how i came up with this name but i luv it.
Muchie Muchie: I use this one when i play with her, but dont use it when guests are over its kinda embarassing.
