technics service

Having Problems with my one turntables. Anyone know a good (hopefully inexpensive) place in Sydney to get my Technic turntable serviced?

What's the issue? [Maybe we can fix it w/o a service]

I've got both my dex ATM in @ DMC getting serviced, a general service is about $90 a deck and takes 10 buisness days FYI...(they send it to a guy called "george")

Bought my tt second hand so im not sure how old it is. The problem is , is that its lost its sensitivity (if that makes sense) I need to put alot of pressure on the vinyl when cueing it etc.
Dont know if this is something that can be fixed or if its just because the deck is old.

You mean that the slipmat is too grippy?

You can buy new slipmats at any record shop, or for a cheaper alternative, use your slipmat as a template to cut out two from a reasonably stiff plastic shopping bag (like the ones you get from central station when you buy records)

put those under the slipmat and see if it's slipping well for you again.

otherwise, we'll need a better description of the problem to help

Nothing to do with the slipmats.
The platter has lost its sensitivity.

do you mean the torque of the platter?

Its controlled by a magnet, they dont exactly wear out?

Or maybe give it some oil?

lol, yer, otherwise, the description is pretty vague in text.

you are wrong. My dex are in service ATM in Sydney (@ DMC). They can fix anything wrong with decks...

nixter.....when u have ur decks on @ 0 (both of them) do the dots look like they are meant to (IE big one not moving) [meaning it spins fine if it's not touched].

Not really sure what's going wrong (godda love decribing issues in text )...you hold down a track, but to keep it from moving you're now having to apply more pressure, or less? (maybe the motor that spins the magnet is dying?)

DMC Is the place to go if it's something like that. If it's just a pitch based issue (IE the dots), I'll post links for fixes
