I also have been a member of TA for a long time now, and despite my limited time, I still like to browse through the NY forum just to see the state of music in our city and in this community. But I'd say over the last year, some posts are absolutely worthless, while others turn into a shouting match. Every thread in this forum should be for everyone, and hopefully contributes some information or knowledge about music....Some people may need to realize that quality is more important than quantity when it comes to posting.. |
IMO, this is because this board (and much of the NYC trance following) is in the hands of a younger and generally underinformed crowd who latched onto an excellent type of music at a time when it had close to no following. They have formed very narrow notions of what trance and trance events should be, with little or no regard for who or what came before them. Now, when someone dares mention something "different" about NYC trance (like the concept of girls actually being on the dancefloor in significant numbers), they freak out, because they have appointed themselves gurus of the scene, and their opinion is not to be questioned (this is not limited to trance, this will usually happen in some form on any bulletin board discussing music).
I certainly don't mean to insult the fine members of TA as a whole, but surely, by skimming through any of the boards, I think the above issue becomes quite evident. Ask any trance fan who has been into the music for over 5 years, and I daresay they would agree.
If the bulletin board, and more importantly trance in NYC is ever to improve, its going to require an attitude adjustment in some of its most zealous followers.
Peace,
Slick
