I was actually wonderint the same thing myself, thoug my slipamts arent that bad. another question is does dust commonly get attracted to vinyl? because mine got all this dust on them each time i take them out of the sleeves. and its not like they've been rotting in the shelves. i only have like 30...

you might need to get different slipmats . . . I had these neoprene ones and they did the same thing, with a stiffer felt they don't. also, I put wax paper under my mats to further insulate and make backcuing easier.

yes use the wax paper, and go to the grocery store, and get you a bag of swiffer wipes to use to clean your vinyl with...they work excellent for removing dust, and they discharge the static buildup, so the vinyl won't grab anymore dust.

I've never had a problem like that. The dust is fairly normal though.

Yeah, swiffers work great. So do those anti-static cloth jobs.

I get the particular problem alot... after I've spun the vinyl, I lift it off only to have the whole slipmatt stick to the bottom of it... I was hoping that because the slipmatt was new, it will eventually go away - but 6 months on its still the same.

Also, most parts of the edges on the slipmatt do not completely lay flat onto the platter...

Can anyone confirm that I've brought shitty slipmatts [they are the Technics ones] ?

Maybe I should just get new ones? Any recommendations?

as stated above get the wax paper.
and also use a vinyl cleaner that promotes antistatic on your rekkids.

the only thing static does to records is cause them to attract dust.

if your slipmat feels right, as in its "slippiness" then there aint really much point as you might end up with a set you dont like.

i would not change my slipmats just because of static, in fact i havent because i get the same problem just not that much.

to remove the static the best method is to rub your hand over the entire record once or twice. this will remove the bulk of the build-up. then just put it away. the static build up will decay to next to nothing on its own in a short time.

it really shouldnt cause problems as long as you remove dust before putting the record on. as there is nothing you can do to prevent records from attracting dust. not even them being in there sleeves!

if you really really want to change slipmats i would not sugest that crappy fluffy felty stuff it just goes "puffy" with time and is pretty crap. you know the ones you tend to find in record shops. i personaly use the onses i got with my first decks which are a set of genini slimats that apears to be a shiny type of material but im not sure what. but of course it is all personal preferance with slipmats...

edit* i forgot to add that having slipmats of the "shiny stuff" material it is best to heve them as plain as possable as the paint stuff on them reduces "slippiness"

Because dust is a huuuuuuuge problem here first thing i did after reading this was go out & buy swiffers. It really works, great thing, and not even THAT expensive if u compare it to those 'special vinyl cleaning products'. Thx
