Thumbs down Dj=£14k insurance premium

Ive never been insured as a dj- despite it being my profession. Sliightly naughty.... but then the main car is not ever parked outside a club and has shedloads of security- and sometimes i use a completely different car

Just been ringing round and doing some online quotes for my new car ( well, planned in the next few weeks)...and i put Dj as profession.

Just been given a quote of £14,139.88/ or £1189.04 per month ....which is ever so slightly ridiculous, considering the performance cars ive owned, my clean licence and clean accident record, and also the fact ive been driving the same marque for several years now.... Ive also never made a claim

Oh well- ill probably have to be a student again (at least on paper...)

See- making your living playing records does have its downsides.

that's more than I pay in a year! But the insurance rates aren't based on your profession here...

lol thats nothin.... over here I am charged about £12000 / year for a ford fiesta just because of my postal code. profession doesnt come into it nor does ur track record. if you go a mile down the road to some1 who has had prior claims and such they get there insurance on the same car for about a quarter of what i'd pay. Fuckin bs.

DIE INSURANCE COMPANIES! DIIIE!

Yup, that's a bit pants but it's worth shopping around. The real irony is that our vehicles are just as much at risk as the bar staff but you don't get a bar maid with a £15'000 quid insurance on a clapped out fiesta.
It sounds as if they have you down as a travelling DJ which has a similar insurance as for example a travelling salesperson. A lot of mileage and hours behind the wheel will do that to an insurance.

Put yourself down as a sound engineer or something at the place that you work. Not sure how it works at your place but when I worked for 1st leisure I used to have to go in and do stuff during the day with decks and so on.
Both me and my GF have cars but they are both in her name and I'm just insured on them for this reason. I must admit that I have never been quoted that high though. At that sort of money I would have to sell one of our cars just to insure the other.

They have definately quoted you as being a travelling DJ so speak to someone there because that's just not right. It may also be worth speaking to a financial adviser to see what they can come up with (take what you get with a pinch of salt though as they are often more concerned with their own interests).

Cheers
Nem
