do you think that they get more money djing than selling their cds?..

do you beleive that music downloading has anything to do with it.. like lets say i hear a hot set by PVD....and then i would want to go see him live and by spreadin his music on the internet he gets more exposure.. and so on...? hopefully you get what i'm saying¿¿

im sure they get alot of money for their gigs alone since most of them tour alot. Also probably more than half of the people who go to a gig pay the amount a CD is worth to get in, and more than half dont own the cd. so..i would say DJs make more money on gigs than on CDs..just the way i see it.

Big Name DJ's get $5k-$100k (usd) for gigs. Now they can do a couple gigs a week easy while touring the world & they only make $1-$3 per CD sold, depending on the company. So I think the money is in gigs.

Highest paid dj is either Fatboyslim (rumored near 100K per gig) or Paul Oakenfold (probably still the highest paid dj so far)

PVD is alright but i much rather see Tiesto just for the fact that his mixing is incredible and hes overall choice of beats and mixing is off my charts atleast

--Plain and simple--I would pay around 350 dollars to hear Tiesto live at a party...Is it me or he never gets around to the East coast?

Same goes with pop artists, since they make more money off of live performances and tours than CD sales (record industries make over 90% of the CD sale profits).

If the DJ has his CD signed to a label for release then they're hardly making any money off of them. This is a common misconception that has been exploited by the RIAA. The majority of money that an artist makes comes from touring and doing gigs. If they have a CD that they're pushing themself on a private label (owned by themself) then I'd imagine they're seeing more money, but they still make more doing gigs.

As for music downloading, I would have never heard half of the music that I enjoy now if it wasn't for music downloading. This stuff is simply not available in the stores around here and most of it can only be obtained by purchasing it online (which can get expensive). There isn't even a radio station that plays EDM here.

damn!! whats up with all this filesharing business then?.. why dont the artists just do somthin like quit their record label.. and use the internet to expose themsevles and then do live gigs?..or do they need a record label to do live gigs and such?
