Technics M3D dustcovers

so, i got my decks yesterday..

the dustcovers are confusing me a little.

they just kinda sit on top of the decks? it looks like they are supposed to attach with hinges, but.. none came in the box? were they supposed to?

yeah, i know.

but it looks like you can attach hinges, there are screw holes on the back, and little rubber things on the dust cover, that look like they come out, to reveal screw holes there too.

do you buy hinges separately or what?

i was actually wondering this myself

i personally wish the m3d's came with the hinges that are removable (not sure about m2k's, but i know gemini's have them and a couple other tables) ie. you can just flip them back, or slide them out of the hinges

its a pain in the ass to take them off everytime i want to spin, and even worse if im taking them somewhere

I hate the hingless covers. Sure its nice for around the house but I bring my tables out to people house partys every weekend, its a pain in the ass when they just slide off in tha car.

Ghost Smilie M3D's

I myself have M3D's and I was wonderin the same exact thing. It doesn't really bother me that they don't attack, but of course I haven't had to take them anywhere yet, like special k said, they just slide off. I dunno...I agree that it's a pain in the ass to take them off everytime that you want to spin, but oh well, don't you want to take good care of your technics

yeah, it doesn't bother me that my dust covers don't attack either, if they attacked, people dancing might get injured!

but, seriously. it's nice having them not attached, for convenice, but, i'd like to be able to attach them if i want to.

there are screw holes on the deck, and what appears to be screw holes filled with little rubber things on the dustcover.

it LOOKS like you can take the rubber out (i haven't tried yet, don't want to fuck em up), and then attach hinges.

BUT, where do you get these things?

i got my mk5s yesterday and i have to say i was pretty surprised by the dust covers too....i really thought i^m missing something. in my oppinion, they should either sell them with removable hinges, or don^t put those wholes in there. because now, they just make people confused. anyway, does anybody know where to get those hinges? (i assume you can get them somewhere as it looks like they can be attached) not that i would really need them right now, but it would be nice to have them just in case, when those wholes are already there.

i have stantons, and the dustcovers have hinges, and they are removable. it really helps, because if i move them around, they covers dont slide off, and when im mixing at home i just take the hinges off completely. if i am chilling out and just put a record on to listen, i just flip the cover up like a normal tt.

i think technics should do this, and when i get my techs, i am going to see if i can use my stanton hinges in the tech covers
