Cern - the message - what gives?

Don't know about you but this tune has been blown all over the shop - been re-released umpteen times and getting accolades that I just don't get. Does anyone else listen to it and think "what's the big deal" or is anyone else hearing something really revolutionary that I'm just missing? It's a damn nice tune but really, is it worth the fuss? I'd love to hear views from someone who really gets it. Production-wise is there anything going on that's worth really commenting on?

It's one of the best tunes I've heard in the last 12 months. Hype no way! This track was a collaboration. 5 producers worked on this track including the very talented Gareth Emery, that you probably already know is also GTR.
This is a massive tune with a massive melody that will blow the house down at any party.

If anyone are wondering who these 5 gentlemen are , check out the website

That is exactly my point! - WHAT is it about this tune that makes it get such a reaction???????? It's not like it's better than other tunes out there - yet it has five top producers behind it. All I hear is a decent riff with some random sample and your same-old-same-old kick-decent-enough-kickoff -- but not - in my opinion - worth the accolade it gets! I couldn't do this good myself but does anyone else who produces really rate this? And why? It stumps me.

BassAngel if you keep thinking this way you will never be a successful trance producer. Your like a farmer trying to figure out why that picasso painting is worth 10 million. Music is art. This is not a decent riff, this is a work of art. If you don't think so then your are blind in spirit. I am in no way insulting you, I am just making a psychological analysis based on your opinions.

Just look up on a clear summer day. What do you see? A blue sky. Seems pretty plain to me but damn me if it's not one of the most beautiful creations God has ever made. You need to get in touch with your inner spirit, and then you will see past what you hear.

In the meantime CERN would like to mention that they aren't Gareth Emery, although they do speak reguarly and work together on projects from time to time.

Enter Defensive mode.

Mate, for a nice guy, you certainly are being quite rude at the moment. I had a look at the site you linked to and that is a quote from the Cern webpage. I just thought you might like to know that. I personally don't care myself, just felt like joining in.

I'd like to think that I don't normally start conflicts, and in this case, I think that maybe you have taken what I said the wrong way.

I'm aware of the website, Im the one who posted it. The reason they said that was because Gareth is the most popular widely known of the bunch and people assume he is behind the Cern project because he actually put cern- the message in his disco on his site. But it was a group effort. I didn't mean to snap at you, but i thought you trying to pick a bone with me. my bad sorry mate.

peace

Okay, it seems you know more than me about cern, which isn't hard cos i had never heard of them. I wasn't trying to be a prick, just helpful.

Hmmm.... I guess what I meant was that by "decent riff" I meant a riff that you doodle out and go "hmm, that's ok" and let fall away - no way do I take what you said badly man, nice to see the passion you've got for it. (DISCLAIMER: by responding to this post you are acknolwledging the author is NOT saying Cern - Message is: tripe, pants, or badly produced, nor is he inferring that he can wipe the floor production-wise)

I've just bought Subsphere - Infinite and that get's me totally that feeling you're talking about trancenrg, cos it's:

a) unusual
b) deep
c) moving and flowing in such a way that your ears would keep listening while it was playing

lose myself every time.

I just notice that there's a lot of tunes out there at the moment that seem to follow a certain pattern, seem a bit "get-the-money-and-run" if you know what I mean, and that's what this tune was doing for me. Good to see it doesn't have that affect on everyone.

and hey, who you telling to touch his "inner spirit"? That's personal! j/k

Let me just step in a say I agree with the original post. The tune is nice but it does not blow me away. It is totally a personal opinion thing. There is no right or wrong answer.

It is a nice song production wise, but is definitly not one of my favorites in the last few months.

If it means anything, I can dig tune and get down if some DJ were to spin it but I would not by this on vinyl. I am simply to stingy with my record dollar and would spend it on something else.
