Whats up, I've been going clubbing for a few years now and love trance music, but I don't really know anything about it. I only really started getting heavily into trance a few months ago and since have downloaded a ton of it onto my computer. However I would like to buy a few good albums or CDs and was wondering what your favorite ones were, or if you had any recommendations for a newbie. Thanks

Global Underground - Electric Calm
Global Underground - Electric Calm v.2
Global Underground - Afterhours

As you can see there I'm more of a fan of chillout/ambient mix albums when it comes to quality CDs. Might not be what you like, but they're all quality albums (btw, not all of those are chillout).

Does gu stand for Global Underground?
And thanks for the advice guys I'm a fan of chillout but I think I'm looking to buy something more upbeat. Something to listen to in the car on the way to a party or while pregaming or some such. I don't have any cds that I can play w/o being laughed at by my friends who don't listen to trance. I want something to totally blow them away and convert them into tranceaddicts.

If you like uplifting trance you might want to hold off on the "Global Underground" series as it is more progressive and newcomers that love uplifting trance might find it a bit boring.
Dj Tiesto's Magik series (1 through 7) are excellent uplifting trance CDs, 5 and 6 especially.
The "00" compilations by Armin van Buuren are also very good (001 through 004), 004 especially. Also the Boundaries of Imagination by Armin is very good.
Other artists to look into are Ferry Corsten, Paul van Dyk, but if you are more into progressive definitely go for some of those Global Underground CDs... 13 Sasha :: Ibiza is one of the best.

I find Balance 005 Mixed by James Holden to be my favorite CD to drive to.
Thanks a bunch guys. I decided on Tiesto Magik 6, Armin Van Buuren boundries of imagination, and gu013 sasha::ibiza .
Based on their reviews these should get me started off in the right direction. I'll let ya know what I think when they arrive next week.
