I have a vestax pmc05pro2 mixer at the moment and I am looking to upgrade in the next couple of months. The Xone 62 doesn`t have a rotary scratch curve cutter (sorry don`t know its real name) and my mate who had a go on one said the scratch curve isnt really sharp enough for the xone62 to be used as a scratch mixer. So whats the new xone 92 like? does it have a sharper scratch curve function that the 62? Is the scratch curve function just a switch or is it rotary?

I`ve heard that you can buy special scratch pennes and giles faders to put in xone mixers but how sharp are these? and can you put them back to a normal curve when you are mixing trance or whatever?


anys basically i wanna know how the xone 92 compares to the xone 62 in the scratch department!

I think you should read up on the site before posting here.. Buy anyway the xone 92 has a ajustable fader curve and your correct that the fade curve on the 62 isnt suited for scratching.. Imo if you want a good mixer get a djm600 or 500 great all arround for the price the next step up imo would be the 92

Actually, neither the Xone:62 nor the Xone:92 are really suitable for scratching. They are designed for house/trance/techno mixing, where smooth mixes are what counts. If you look at the faders, you can see why: they are long and the fader knobs are made so that you can adjust them easily.

fr0st recommended the DJM's.... I would say the same about these mixers as well, they aren't designed for scratching. If you look at scratch mixers, they are generally 2 channel mixers, and at the bottom end of the mixer you just have two short line faders and a short crossfader. This is so that the other controls don't get in the way whilst cutting, crabbing etc.

The PMC 05pro that you already have is a good scratch mixer, but if you really want to upgrade it, to get better sound quality etc, then Allen & Heath do actaully make a scratch mixer... it is the Xone:02.

cheers for the help i did actually look up the site and read a couple of different reviews about the xone 92 but i just wanted to hear from someone who had tried the thing. I know the xone series arnt really scratch mixes but ive just got this huge desire to buy one they are perfect for me except for the fact that they dont have a really good scratch curve. so i was wondering if the new ones had a sharpr scratch curve casue that would be perfect then! for some reason i just dont like the pioneer 600`s ive never played with one but all ive read about it and seen of it i dont really like it! the xone series are like an itch in my pants i just gotta get at it!

If your going to be scratching most of the time, don't buy a Xone anything, upgrade to the Rane 56. If you want to do both scratch and mix, I would recommend the Rane Empath, as it can pull both duties, mainly mixing, but you can do some scratching with it as well. I have the Empath, and I do just straight mixing, and it works great for that. The Empath is quite versatile for all types of mixing. If I ever upgrade from this, although I doubt any other mixer would be worth it because the Rane is built so well, and the sound quality with the Penny and Giles faders are phenomenal, I would upgrade to the MP2016 rotary. Anyways, the main point is choose your style first, then making a decision will be a bit easier for ya.
