what do you guys think of the StantonTrackmaster II RS carts?

they retail at around $200 a pair but I can get them for around $150 from a buddy, brand new. Do you think that these are any good/worth it? I just got my tables so I am brand new at this and was looking for a little guidance. thanks guys

I think the trackmasters have tracking problems, and not so good sound as well. I would do a quick search and see what others have already said about them.

I have the SK model and I think it's a pretty weak cart...

Okay, I used to own them carts. And yeah, kinda like my worst carts ever. Even compared to the Stanton ALIIs, they suck.

Hissing is high on them carts and highs arent clean, sound is pretty dirty.
I upped to Shure M35X a while back and I noticed a big difference.

The thing thats tricky about them carts is that they are pretty expensive, so they give the illusion like they may be of some quality. Usually, you get what you pay for, this is one of those exceptions.

edit: forgot to mention they generate feedback easy too.. not good.

yeah dude, stay away! i've never used the trackmaster rs, but the sk is weak in the knees, the groovemaster rm sounds alot but still doesnt hold a groove very well. i think that because stanton 500s are considered good beginner carts, people assume that the trackmasters are gonna be really nice (atleast i did)..... wrong. if you're looking for some good carts look at shure m44gs, the m35x, or some ortofons..... from what i hear you cant go wrong with any of them. if you already have some headshells you can save some cash by buying some oem style carts and mounting them yourself.

There you go M8!

Shure WhiteLabels are the best I've ever used and I used to own Ortofons Pro DJ S Concordes(blues), used to own, well till I got my pair of Shure White Labels, hehehehe , Sold Ortofons within two days of getting the whtlbls.

Contact me via PM or Email, for a special fellow TA boardmember discounted price of a pair of Shure White Labels or whatever carts you decide to go with.

Cheers...

yup can't go wrong with Whitelabels. If you want a piar of headshell mounted go w/ m44-g. Great tracking and low cue burn. Yeah the only thing i don't like bout whitelabels, mine required alot of adjusting before my tables were skip proof.

here's my whitelabel settings:
tracking force: 2g
height:3mm
overhang:51mm
antiskate:0g
