I've never used one of those, but I'm not too crazy about the slide faders for the bass, mids and highs. I'm sure someone on here has one that can give us there review of it.

This in my opinion is a mixer with an identity crisis. Whilst you can never fault Vestax for build quality etc. I think this mixer doesn't quite know which realm it belongs too, i.e. Dance Music or Turntablism... or both. The general format of the mixer is very cramped and would probably not appeal to turntablists that much.

The EQs are not to my liking, a little too fiddly and don't provide the same level of control as a rotary. My guess is that they were made that way to conserve space as they are trying to use the regular mixer size.
I haven't heard the filters but as a rule most things like that are better controlled with rotaries and not slide faders.

I don't think you would go wrong as such with this mixer but I would say, if you are going to spend this sort of money then get a A&H Xone 62.

Cheers
Nem

i didnt expain what i ment due to drunkness eheheh. uer you are right rotary gives more control...i really ment you can flash the eq's far easier using faders than rotary... it happens to be something im a tad obsessed with right now

and the way things are going i recon turntablism will eventualy not be considered separate from dance. Dj craze is paving the way for a new bread of "superd Dj" by aplying his turntable skills to mixing without loosing flow. pretty much the reason he wins DMC alot. id personaly like to learn alot more turntablism skills so i could aply them to my sets and this mixer would be pretty good for it i recon

He he, I tend to avoid posting when in altered states...

But yup, I agree with you that the DJ is moving on. Not sure that it will go the way of turntablism to be honest but you will probably see a fusion of things.
Eddie Halliewll also does it but very often the guys in dance music who scratch don't usually measure up to a DMC champion. (Regardless of what Mixmag says...)

DJing needs something to shake it up and at this moment in time I'm not sure what it is. They say that it takes about 20 years for 'the next big thing' to come around and it's been about 20 years since the dance scene blew up... we need something and I think it's a comin'... My own contribution will be 'Death Metal Polka'!

Cheers
Nem

wow!!!!!!! i wait in eager anticipation hehehhe

yer i think it all needs somethink turnablism and the dance sceane. i wonder if it could be the merger of the two? this would make craze our "leader".....god have you seen him in interviews? hes mad he just wont stop smilling and his hands are constantly in motion as if he just wants to be playing! its well funny...

back to the matter in hand....
personaly i would go with the vestax because i want to try my hand at a bit of turnablism skills. dunno whats stopping me now....think it could be fear of damageing records and carts. but nem is right with his xone62 its an extra £36 but if your willing to spend &600 odd bucks then im sure youve got the money. its a highly rated mixer.

one of the most attractive features in this mixer for me is the fact that you can play the same source on all 3 channels,
and i did have a chance to play at it (at the shop)..
and nothing beats it.
about a year ago i was excited bout the tascam x9 for exactly the same feature (not to mention the samplers/fx's/parametric eq),
but ive heard too many bad reviews about it, and ive noticed that the eq isnt that good, so i gave up on it..
and about the money issue,,, its not that i have the money,, cause i dont.... im taking a loan for it

so... unless a floodgate of bad reviews for it opens up,,, im planning on getting my hands on one of those baby's in about two weeks (the vestax ofcourse)
