* * * Keep At Same Bpm For A Set??? * * *

Hey guys..

I would just like to know if you are meant to keep on a chosen BPM speed when playing live.. like at parties, etc.
Is that how pros do it?

Or is changing the BPM of a song to match the song playing, then change the BPM of the new song slowly back to normal pitch?

thanks.. i would really know what you guys do and Tiesto, PvD, do..

most pros keep it the same.

I like to start at 145 or so and speed it up to 150 at the end. Depends on the situation and the time-slot of my set.

Well... that depends...

First of all... don`t put the pitch back to normal... continue with what you started

Second of all... if you want the people to dance slower turn the pitch down... and if you want the people to dance faster than turn the pitch up... it all up to how you wanna change the mood of the party... as more as the BPM is high... the people will rock.

That`s why I recommend that in your sets you will put up at start about 136-140 BPM and untill you reach the end of the set take the BPM as high as 146-150 (you don`t want people to get tired at the beginning of the party)

Well... that`s it... hope I helped you... you can check and download my music which have high BPM at my site at www.mp3.com/djdol-b
bye bye for now

It all depends on where i'm playing, what type of crowd and what style of music. It also depends on how long of a set I'm doing. Sometimes I'll bring the pitch back to 0%. It's always easier to bring the pitch UP to 0% than it is to bring the pitch DOWN to 0%. Maybe I should say "less noticable" instead of "easier".
DJ DAWN-- Starting at 145? You must just wear those kids out!

That's why they love me
You answered that one yourself:
"It all depends on where i'm playing, what type of crowd and what style of music. "

They want it this way. A couple of years ago, we had a series of parties called "No House Rave" (=no House Music). They allways started at 160 and didn't go any lower all night (With no gabber/hardcore...just hardtrance).
Today kids will still come up and ask me to play faster. +8 has become part of my style....

The only occasion I wouldn't do this is when I start the evening with the first set. I go down to 135 then.

DJ DAWN-- I think it's great! It just makes me laugh ,though, to think how much has changed in the past several years. When I first started spinning, the average tempo was between 124 & 128 .I would usually start off the evening at around 100 and work up to about 144. There wasn't many tunes that were above 144, actually. Once in a while you'ld get something that was around 150 ..but not real often.
It's really sort of funny that what used to be peak hour frenzy is now chill time. All I can say is "Keep it pumpin'"

It really depends entirely on what you're spinning. I often do a combination of styles - Sometimes I start off with some hard house, move on to some hard trance, than some uplifting trance... It would be ridiculous to keep the same BPM, imagine playing some mellowed-out trance at 155bpm just because you started out with some hard house!

As I said: Most pros keep it the same. Why don't you count the bpm of a tiesto set? They are at 136-140 in the beginning and at the end. So that's what he does. Same with PvD. His set at Mayday 2000 was a bit faster than most others, but still stayed at the same bpm.

U can keep the same BPM all the time.
but then, if U want a wicked set, U can change it. (not to sudden though, U could ruin the whole party!)
