Which means that "Yom Hazikaron", Israel's memorial day for the fallen soldiers in all its wars, will be next week. It is this week and that day specifically that symbolizes the Israeli spirit in my opinion: Yom Hazikaron is followed by Israel's independence day "Yom Haazmaut" and since for Jews a new day starts after sunset, it means that while people mourn all day and remember the fallen soldiers, several hours later, after sunset, Independence day is celebrated throughout the entire country. Tragedy and absoulte happiness within a few hours, suffering and proudly celebrating, "losing" and "winning", sacrifices and achievements...this is the story of Israel the Jewish life as a whole. Days like these remind you of the importance of Israel's existence.

I have never in my life seen such national spirit as that displayed in the 24 hours from memorial day to independence day... kinda heart warming
also bless all those who suffered during the holocaust... i am proud of my grandparents who they overcame those brutal times.

Re: Did you remember what day it is today?
Sure they haven't forgot... that's why they are putting palestinians in ghettos and murdering them. That's pretty far away from the Holocaust, but the israelis seem to have forgotten how their ancestors suffered with racism and ethnic violence...
