A simple standard midi keyboard, whereabouts does it plug in on my pc, looking at some to go alongside reason.

It plugs into your soundcard at the back. If there is no port, then you have to buy a new soundcard

You need a midi interface cable

this one goes into your pc's joystick input and splits into a midi in & out


the cable part that spells "midi in" must connect to the keyboards "midi out"


easy as that! the rest is pc settings
