Cool Whats wrong with Darude, Sarina Paris, ATB, etc

Why do a lot of you people dislike stuff like Darude, Sarina Paris, ATB, ATC, DJ Rap and all of those? I think they sound great and thats pretty much all that matters when it comes to music, right? (I hope this wasn't a stupid question)

Hey, if it was the Nsync of trance then it would be good! Nysnc is like the most popular pop group, so dont use it in a comparison to cheap trance tunes.

well, ATC and Sarina Paris just plain suck.
Who can honestly say they never liked 9PM or Sandstorm??? Sure u mite be tired of it, but the first time you heard it, i know it just blew u away. ATB looked to be the most promising out of all those artists u mentioned, but his albums SUCK and the only thing paying the bills is that oingy-boingy sound. Darude has made some alrite tunes. i don't know what everyone's beef with him is.

ATC does suck, I can stand the rest of them but not ATC..la la la la la...that's just shit. And sadly that's the only thing close to trance that makes it onto radio here

I don't like to label something as "cheese" because the boundaries aren't exact and, even if it's cheese, most of it (though not all) can still be enjoyed at a party or at a club.

The problem with all these that you mentioned is that their music is too simplistic and overplayed, it's mellow and sugary and doesn't leave an impression on the trained techno/trance ear. For me personally it's just not powerful enough, it's okay for a chill-out but doesn't take your mind out for a psychedelic journey

Thumbs up

If we're honest with ourselves, none of us got drawn into this type of music by buying a Goliath or a Global Underground album, because that sort of thing takes a little bit more of a trained ear to appreciate ...

Nup, chances are, most of us got drawn into 'proper' trance by first hearing something like ATB in a cheesy club, and liking it, so you went out and bought some crap commercial trance mix albums and thought it was pretty cool music to roll to, and then of course the real revelation came after you went to a proper 'dance' club for the first time, or maybe even just put the word 'trance' into your search engine, or your Napster, and it spat back a Ferry or PvD track at you, and your life was fundamentally changed

So even though I don't listen to that stuff so much now, I reckon the world needs those kind of trance artists simply BECAUSE they are radio friendly and likely to be played to people who otherwise would be listening to Hootie and the f****ng Blow fish, it might open their minds just a crack. You've got to convert those sort of people to trance by stealth, very gently so they don't even realize they're starting to like 'electronic music'!!

So don't be knocking Mr ATB or even the Venga boys, you might think they're crap but if even one non-trance person listens to that stuff and ends up buying a good trance record as a consequence, then they're helping to keep our industry and the music we love alive.

(Besides, Darude is bloody GOOD! I was fully blown away by Sandstorm when I heard it first, sure it's thrashed to hell now but that happens to all good tracks eventually).

I never said I dislike ATB or Darude, not even DJ rap, but ATC, come on, that word dont belong on this thread, really, that song has me sick , its not cheese trance.. its the cheesiest of eurodance, my friend kept on telling me that ATC is good techno, so is Eiffel 65 - blue .. I was come on you f*cking ignorant or what Man, I hate when they call anything dance techno. But hey, there I have to go and preach what the word means to thousands of those that come to me everything day ( hehehehe ) anywyas, dont ever go close to a ATC cd, I felt reeeeeeal bad after I gave it a sample listen. Haddaway, roxalla, corona , 2 unlimited, even vengaboys Id say are 1x100000 times better then that ATC.
