I have to agree with Weasil, your mindset plays a BIG part, if I'm not in the mood, then I do a crap mix, but if I'm hyper or got a couple of drinks in me, I just want to party and have fun, and thats when I do my best mixing.
Lately though I been doing pretty crap, I think I know why though, I haven't really DJed in the past 3 weeks, I'm getting bored with my record collection, so the thrill of mixing isn't at an all time high right now, and my speakers are getting pretty crap, I'm finding it hard to hear the track from my monitor, and trust me its loud enough.
Anyway, like what most people have said, you do go through phases of good mixing and bad mixing, its a pain in the ass, but it happens, the only may to make this less likely to happen is DJ more and buy more records, but just keep on spinning and you will drop a killer set sooner than later.
