tonearm height question

right now im using a pair of technics m3d's with trackmaster II rm's (yea they suck, whitelabels on the way). My height is actually a little below the zero mark and i cant turn the ring anymore. Is this weird to have such a low setting? anything higher and I can see they arrent parallel to the platter/record. i noticed alot of other posts saying people had heights of like 2 or so.

i think the instructions that came with my trackmasters said to set the height at 0. depending on how think your slipmats this number could be higher. i wouldnt worry to much about the actual number as long as your tone arm is as close to level as you can get it.

alright thanks... btw how are your trackmaster's holding up? i've had nothing but probs with them... crappy sound quality and for some odd reason my left channel was always lower then the right on most of my records.

i'm using the same exact setup but my right channel always seems to be lower than my left... and the stantons skip like hell, especially at the beginning of the record and then it settles in... i'm sooooo tempted to increase tonearm weight to like 3.5 or some ridiculously high number...
my height btw is sitting between 1.5 and 2 with the original slipmats...

the lower sound can be for a few reasons... first the obvious is your mixer isn't set to phono like the other, which could also explain distortion, another is that your table is giving out unbalanced output (which is rare, and getting new needles could fix this) and 3rd is, have you tried switching your turntables on ur mixers slot? 1 to 2 and 2 to 1 to see if its actually the table or the mixer? cheers -Anthony

my trackmasters are collecting dust on shelf in my bedroom. i used them for a couple of hours and absolutely hated them. no matter how i set them up they would jump out of the groove when i was cueing a record up on the first beat. i ended up buying a set of Shure M44Gs, that i really like.
