I guess 'cause he got such great response from the audience, and his first set for such a large audience? I don't know if that was the first time he played for a big party like that, but I guess that could be a reason as well.

I thought his mixing was pretty damn good in that set.
Maybe he realized that he had reached the peak of his greatness and that every subsequent effort of his, when measured against this set, would just not compare.
Or maybe he was overwhelmed by the fantastic crowd response, he does seem like someone who shows their emotions...

This was his big break in Holland and it was his first time with such a big crowd. He cried because this big crowd went totally insane.

heh. Well, what he has said about this is that Innercity 99 was his breakthrough set in Holland, and he got very emotional about the response he got. We al know that he was around for quite a while before, but this set really put him on the map. It was his first massive event if I'm not mistaken.
