Exclamation broken on/off knob on an Mk2...

a friend got decks lent to him, from this guy, bla bla.

the point is, today he was gonna mix a little, and when he was done, and switched it to off, the "face" of the knob just went all the way around. it broke loose from the stick, which seems to have sunk in now.

any way he can fix this at home, or should he get a professional to do this? logic states it would really be that comples of an operation, but i'm no authority on the subject, so anyone who knows please help.

so the actual turning piece is stripped? they have a lot of replacement parts at most DJ stores.

Is this what you need?

^^ if that part is all you need it shouldnt be too hard to fix. you could probably do it with out opening up the turntable. when i installed my blue leds in my mk2s i had to take them apart and get at the all the stuff that is in that sliver cylinder that the on/ off switch is on. its not really too hard but there are alot of screws. if you think you need to open up the deck here is a link to some instructions. good luck.

HMV? and this is?

blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. Technics should have made the cylinder screw in or something. fucking huge drag to take apart a deck in order to change a button. ah well.
