Help Me

Okay, here's the situation: I'm playing a TECHNO (and techtrance) set on the radio in a few hours, and I need to play at least 2 Canadian tracks to satisfy stupid broadcast laws. But the only good Canadian techno producer whose tracks I have is DJ Preach. Somebody PLEASE give me the name of a techno producer or techno tune of Canadian origin with a style like Preach/Picotto/Marco V etc.

Thanks in advance.

probably too late for this go-round, but for future reference a few other quality Canadian producers (other than the already mentioned Max Graham), off the top of my head, would be:
Luke Fair
Greg Benz (or Benz & MD)
Brad Copeland (though I don't think he has anything officially released)
Misstress Barbara
Marty Villeneuve (or MV)
Tiga
Mateo Murphy
Miche & Sultan

that sounds kind of ridiculous that you have to play a certain amount of domestic songs.

CANCON (Canadian Content) rules....a certain percentage of the content broadcast by all Canadian radio and television stations must be from Canadian artists....it's not that ridiculous when you think about it (except that it means crap like Nickelback soaks up way more airtime then they'd otherwise deserve)

Racist? hahah - I think you're getting a little bit ahead of yourself.

Requiring that ONLY Canadian-produced music be played could be construed as racism, but that's not the case in Canada.

Play a Preach track and a Misstress Barbara track and you're done. You can also play stuff from Richie Hawtin (aka Plastikman) or John Aquaviva, they are both Canadian if I'm not mistaken.

racist? ahahahahaah.....not even remotely
there are definitely pros and cons to the policy, which is part of the Canadian broadcasting charter - but none of the arguments against the policy (some which I agree with, particularly the ones which argue that the policy comes at a heavy financial cost to taxpayers) speak to it being "racist".....at the end of the day, the purpose of the policy is to ensure that Canadian broadcasters dedicate a certain proportion of their airtime to supporting Canadian artists and productions (and ultimately their jobs); not really an unreasonable request

It's the CRTC that mandates it and they are the people who give out broadcast licenses. Most radio stations in Canada are required to play 30% Cdn Content, to save our music I guess. That is the law and it has always been that way. So lameass stations play nelly furtado, the barenaked ladies and nickleback on repeat to put more money in their pockets and to make the CRTC happy.
