Trance events in Kingston? Unfourtunatly there aren't any this weekend, is a house dominated city. Trance events usually happen three times a year, if that.

The only place you will find EDM this weekend is at TANGO, it's on King St, right near the corner of Brock (near the market). Chris S and Dave Sol will be spinning.

There was an after hours place called extreme, but I think it recently closed.

nope.. nothing in kingston.. but if you're with a lot of friends go to a local club like stages, it's dirt cheap drinks and bad music, but so much fun when you're drunk.. and there'll be a lot of queen's students there too cause everyone's done exams now

Chris and Dave are house DJ's, wicked nice guys. I am not a huge house fan, but I promise TANGO will be better then stages !!! There style is funky house.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^thanks

not sure if my friends would be into house. their EDM tasts arent as diverse as mine, and they only really listen to anything which i push on them

oh well. do people here actually like house? from talking with my friends here, it seems that this is a very rock dominated environment. i think we need a super club in kingston!!! that would be too funny!!!

Rock dominated enviroment? I'm not sure where your freinds hang out, but I hardly ever hear rock in kingston. I am curious to find out why they think it is a rock dominated city. I would say it is a city dominated by the shitty music you hear at stages and AJ's, whatever you want to classify that as.

There isn't a very large EDM culture here. Of the local DJ's I know if, 6 are house, and one is trance. I am part of the trance "group", but the trance and house ppl go to Tango, because it's the only place to go. There is a huge seperation between the house and trance groups, almost a tension. It is getting better, it use to be worse. I think we are trying to validate which style is better, who knows.

A superclub? lol, wouldn't that be halarious !!

I would say it's all top 40... some good hiphop once in a while, but that's rare. I have never heard trance anywhere in Kingston.

There was a time when you heard trance at stages or aj's

The first time I heard Sarah mclachlan-silence(tiesto remix), darude sandstorm :P, atb-9pm till I come, alice deejay song-better of alone. ppk-resurection was a big hit at ajs for a while.. these songs got me into trance.. I have even heard paul van dyk-for an angel at stages back in the summer of 2000 haha.

I would say kingston is a hip-hop/rap dominated city for sure.. hands down. I go to ajs at least once a week and the majority of the music you hear is hip hop/rap .. same with elixir. EDM is very rare in kingston for the exception of Tango that is.. Nice place. I heard Xtreme was closed down as well but someone told me that was a rumour... DJ synergy will be spinning saturday may 1st at Xtreme so if you are still in kingston next weekend you can check that out.

Partegurl I live in kingston as well and im on the trance side of things :P and the only trance dj I know is Pete aka synergy. whats your name?? My name is Steve .. IM sure we have seen each other . I was at Tango last Saturday haha..

I didnt realize there was other kingston TA's!

to be very honest i just assumed it was a rock dominated culture. I just turned around and asked my friend what he actually thinks dominates kingston

Complete shit

was his answer! lol. he has the same views as you do about the quality of music in this city.

there does seem to be anamosity between EDM groups usually. I find that it comes down to trancers asking to be taken seriously, because they have to battale the like of DJ Sammy degrading our genre, and house fans claiming its the mother of EDM and therefore all should listen to it, cause it has 'soul'. I do enjoy house, and do know it is important for our roots, but i never felt it was neccessary to put down trance lovers, such the way they do.

And who you ask am i refering to? Well some members of this board, but especially dance magazines. they shit all over trance as if it was the sole reason society is degrading. strange folk

My name is Linzie. I didn't realize that there were other TA's in kingston besides pete roucsh, pete moyse and charles horvath !! It's nice to see. Ya I know Pete, cause I am friends with Charles. I also know his gf sarah.

I havn't been at tango lately, because I until this sunday I am living in Ottawa for school. I heard about synergy being at Xtreme, if he is, I will be there for sure.

We should start a Kingston TA forumn, I think there about 10 of us, but who knows, there could be more.
