More of the new RED scare, and this isn't a fear of the democrats.

"It's the nuclear-powered guided missile cruiser Peter the Great, the anti-submarine warship Admiral Chebanenko and other accompanying ships," he told the AFP news agency.
Two Russian bombers arrived in Venezuela last week for training flights.
I don't like how the Anglo disposition toward the Russians is working out. Do the Brits and the Americans feel they really need another enemy?

Yes they do, otherwise, there would be no reason to curtail our freedoms. They want control of us, so they need enemies for us to focus on, when the reality is, our government is our worst enemy.

who cares. Does the US lack bombers? Have russian bombers ever been effective in combat against the US? Does the US now fear venezualia air capacity because the russians flew two bombers that can train perhaps 2 to 8 air crews? Is the JSF or Raptor etc.. suddently not able to engage or take out airborn targets..WHO CARES..
The onlyway those bombers are a risk is if they hold the real Saddam, Osama, some warheads and biochemical weapons that are to be added to the free oil given to the bronx. Is that likely?
In world war two had Spitfires ever been effective in combat against the ME109?
Or what of IEDs before the invasion of Iraq?
No one knows how combat will unfold, that's why it's best to avoid it.
Did you read the article? It's not the bombers that are the issue, it's the warships that are the concern.
The article also highlights the hypocracy that the US has long held. The general American public (or maybe just the people in power) seem to think there is no problem establishing bases in artilery range of Russian boarders yet flip out when Russian military equipment moves anywhere in to the Americas.

As a tangent, I remember someone telling me that the main reson that the right to bear arms was in the constitution was protection against British imperialisim, that guns were ment to shoot at the government not at your neibour.
I don't know the truth behind it but it make ya think...

We're trying to control the fragile politics of several South American countries at the moment.
There's a lot of oil down there...

Peter the Great (Kirov) is some 1980's technology, yes it has fire power, but guess what, The U.S. Navy is far more advanced with Submarines and Surface Ships. Russian junk. the only ships they Russian have that are decent are submarines and half of them havent worked in years. so this isnt anything to worry about.
