I was wondering if we could agree on a set of "rules" for these forums, put it in a sticky thread and that way avoid new members starting their career in a shower of flames?

I suggest that the following is considered:

*If you find a thread/post is useless/stupid - ignore it.

*When starting new threads give them a subject title that are meaningful.
Bad examples:
- Help!!
- Please read
- Picotto - Lizard
Better examples:
- Can anyone identify this sample?
- BHR goes to war against MP3
- New mix of Lizard. Get it here!
- Similarity between Lizard and 1998?

*LOL-like posts should be kept at a minimum

Are these to harsh?? And as a newcomer would you actually read such a sticky thread??

I would read it....altough you woulndt have to tell me these rulz.... They are quite logic to me....i know that RMF has rulz for each forum section...... its a good idea

I have had a quick look around and the only thing to explain things is the faq page, click the tab at the top.

It would b a good idea to have a rulez page, things like, dont post links to albums, and like and old post by swamper about stupid and annoying threads. So i think it would b a good idea to have a rulez page, why dont u post the suggestion in the site suggestion forum

Yes, but you're missing the point TranceScend.

It's not about censoring people, or telling what they can and can't post about, it's about getting them to help themselves and everyone else.

The first rule will help to avoid all these useless posts that continue to crop up despite Swamper's sticky thread trying to dissuade people from starting them/contributing them (if you don't respond in a thread that you find to be stupid or useless, then people will be less likely to post them in the first place, because if no-one's replying to them people will be less inclined to post them).

The second rule is to allow us to know what the topic's about, which, I imagine, is the whole point of having topic headings. Also, if you have a title that has some relevance to the post inside, you're more likely to attract the help you're looking for.

The last one prevents people from clogging up the forum with posts used simply to bump up their post tally, which is something I certainly find useless.
