Question help with audiogalaxy

Hi everyone

Just wondering if you could help me out with a question. On my shitty 56k modem with a 4 hour timeout limit with ozemail is there any way of downloading off audio galaxy and being able to resume after the 4 hour cut off? Ive been trying to get nunrg at orgasmatron but it seems in the 4 hours i can't get all the file and it is deleted from my d drive so i can't even listen to the part i downloaded. Is that the way it works? If you don't get the whole thing you get none?

Thanks

Frustrated!

I've never actually had that problem with audiogalaxy and i'm with iPrimus with a 4 hour (now 5 hour i think) cut off. Maybe it's got to do with the new version of the Satalite program.. im not sure, but if i find the install file for my version, i'll send it to you

It shouldn't be deleting the file, it saves what you've got as a .temp and then resumes from there next time you connect. I have the latest version but without the gator crap but I don't think that would do it. How does your connection 'work'? I mean do you have to run a program or go to the ozemail site when you start? Because maybe it deletes stuff you download, I dunno. I've never had that kind of problem before and seeing as resuming is one of the drawcards of AG doubt it would be something in the program doing that.

Ozemail always cuts out after 4 hours to the minute. When im downloading i can see it as a temp file in my c drive directory. As soon as the line cuts out it re-dials and then goes back to the start if i re-download the set. Then if i check c drive the file is gone. Ive searched the harddrive with the filename but it doesn't find it afterwards. Im using xp as well.

I only recently downloaded the ag sat, maybe resuming isn't part of it anymore?

Oh well, i'll have to stick with d2k at least i can get it to work.

Thanks for your help.

Make sure u have all your shares set up properly .. sharing your C drive isn't something I would recommend....

And if my satellite is running, it will keep trying to connect to the AG network, even while I'm not connected to the net (though I access the net through a dialup connection elsewhere on my LAN).

So does it automatically re-dial?
Try turning that off and/or when you get disconnected copy the files that aren't finished into another directory before you re-connect. Then when you start AG again you can paste them back in if they get deleted. Just try leaving it connected for a min or two before you start AG, then it might be easier to tell if AG is deleting the files or something else.

You are new to AG? When you say re-download the set do you just mean starting the satellite again after you get disconnected? Thats all you have to do, you don't need to add it to the queue again or anything, just in case thats what you did.

I have win98 and have had no problems other than discovering log files that are gigabytes in size...

If nothing works I guess you can send an email to the AG people and see if they can help.

I know! Last night I was thinking 'nah I'll leave AG for tonight cause the djmixes set is going down tomorrow!' So I'm downloading from djmixes2k and when I get to work in the morning one of the guys tells me about a song. He says "try 'follow me' by Spacefrog or something, Derb played it in a set, its good stuff". So I hop on the PC (its faced away from everyone else ) and do a search and I find it, but its blocked. So are the six pages worth of other matches! I'm thinking hang on a sec, so I do a search for something I just downloaded and its blocked too! All this other stuff is blocked, and I look at my queue and its clean! Gone! I had 13 tracks or something left to download! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! I look around for any news or anything and of course AG doesn't have shit on their site so I check the message boards and they've gone down the toilet! Bloody RIAA! Hopefully they'll be able to get soem filters or soemthing working so they can get online and have livesets and stuff available! I can live with that. Someone in another thread said they couldn't even download their own tracks & sets lol!! Man, I don't care about pop crap, and you can't do much about people renaming files so just accept it that people pirate music and share it around! Too bad RIAA!!

Yes! I had some download recommendations, but of course when I searched for them, they were blocked. The night before I went on a queueing spree! And now it's all gone...I have no idea what I wanted to download!

I don't think the RIAA will ever accept the fact people will pirate music...sounds to me like they are an evil, greedy bunch of corporate dickheads! Grrr.... I feel quite vindictive at the moment...Muhahaha! *cracks knuckles*

I'm angry about it, but we can't do shit. I'll just wait for the "next big thing"....
